Our Kids Program

A clear path to help every child grow in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Our Philosophy

At JTSU Academy, we believe Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is much more than learning techniques. Our goal is to help children become confident, respectful and disciplined while learning in a safe, friendly and positive environment. Every child learns at a different speed. Our job is to help every student improve, enjoy training and become the best version of themselves.

How We Teach

Our Kids Program follows a clear step-by-step system. Students first learn the basics. As they improve, they move on to more advanced techniques and concepts. Each belt builds on the previous one, helping children develop strong fundamentals before learning more difficult skills.

How Promotions Work

Promotions are earned through consistent progress, not only by time. Every student is evaluated using the same standards. Promotions are based on five areas: - Attendance - Technical Progress - Effort - Behavior - Coach Evaluation Competition results are not required for promotion. Every child progresses at their own pace.

Attendance Matters

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu improves with regular practice. Students who attend classes consistently usually improve faster and feel more confident. Parents can check their child's attendance at any time through the DojoExpert Parent Portal. Attendance is an important part of promotion, but attendance alone does not guarantee a belt.

Stripes and Belts

Stripes show progress between belt promotions. They help students stay motivated and see that their work is being noticed. Belt promotions are bigger steps. A belt promotion means the student has shown the technique, effort, behavior and maturity expected for that level.

Our Promise

We want every child to feel safe, supported and challenged. We teach children to train hard, respect their teammates and enjoy the learning process. At JTSU Academy, progress is not measured only by belts. Progress is measured by how much the student improves on and off the mats.
