JTSU Academy – Parents Guidelines & Expectations for Kids Program
Our Goal
JTSU Academy is not a recreational playgroup.
We are a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy focused on real training, discipline, and long-term development.
Our goal is to help children become stronger, more disciplined, more confident, and more responsible through structured martial arts training.
What We Teach
We teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as both a martial art and a tool for personal development.
Through training, students develop discipline, respect, focus, consistency, responsibility, and the ability to handle challenges and pressure.
We are coaches — not babysitters or entertainers.
Our Training Approach
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art, not a soft activity.
Our classes are structured, demanding, and discipline-focused. We expect students to listen carefully, follow instructions, stay engaged, and push themselves during training.
We do not replace training with games or entertainment.
At the same time, our coaching is always controlled, professional, and respectful. We are not aggressive and we do not shout without reason, but we are firm, direct, and demanding.
This balance is important for real growth and development.
Role of Coaches
Our responsibility is to teach proper Jiu-Jitsu technique, maintain a safe training environment, guide students through discipline within training, and help children improve physically and mentally through sport.
We are not responsible for parenting, upbringing, behavior outside training, or forcing children to participate.
If a child does not want to train, they will not be forced.
Expectations from Students
Students are expected to come to class ready to train, follow instructions, show respect to coaches and teammates, maintain discipline, wear proper uniform, maintain good hygiene, and stay consistent in training.
Repeated disruptive behavior or refusal to participate may result in sitting out of class, removal from training, or recommendation to take a break from the program.
Expectations from Parents
Training is a shared responsibility between coaches and parents.
We expect parents to support discipline at home, ensure children arrive on time and prepared, maintain proper hygiene and uniform, encourage consistency, and respect the coaching process and academy decisions.
Progress is only possible when coaches and parents work together.
Important Philosophy
We teach Jiu-Jitsu — not entertainment.
Children who are motivated to learn and improve usually progress very quickly. Children who are not ready for structured training may need more time or may not yet be ready for this type of environment.
That is completely normal.
Our Goal Beyond Sport
Our goal is not only to build athletes, but to help develop discipline, confidence, responsibility, respect, and strong character through martial arts training.
Final Note
We are committed to providing high-quality coaching, a structured environment, and professional training standards.
In return, we expect respect, commitment, and cooperation from both students and parents.
If this approach matches your expectations, we are happy to welcome your child to JTSU Academy.
